HI - my name is Terri.  I am new to this group and wanted to say HI and let you know a little about myself.  I was banded in 2009 with the little 4cc, lost 130 lbs but did have complications associated with being too tight and having emergency unfills.  I underwent a second surgery in 2011 to replace my 4cc with my current 11cc band.  Since then, I have gradually gained weight (60 lbs) and developed severe acid reflux.  After enduring these issues, I am undergoing a revision on August 13, to remove my band and have gastric bypass.  I am really SCARED of life after bypass, I have read so much about dumping syndrome, malabsorption, etc., that I am just overwhelmed right now.  I am looking forward to learning so much from all of you, and being able to share my experiences as I continue on this WLS journey.  Terri

Don't be scared.... Be informed. Educate educate educate yourself on your surgery. Ask as many questions as you can think of. There is no such thing as a stupid question!! Call your center/surgeon as often as you need to. It is there job to make sure you are well informed and confident in your choice of surgery and the process.
This is a great place to start getting support from your "peers" especially if you like straight shooting honest answers.
So welcome and ask away!
I am 9 months out of RNY and do not regret this surgery one bit!!
I was a size 24 last summer, this summer I am 142 lb lighter and wearing a size 8.

Welcome, Terri!

I'm 9 years out (so what would I know, right?) and have had very few problems after my RNY.    I think you will find RNY way easier to live with than the band - just commit to following the lifestyle from the beginning because sometimes with a revision the weight loss is a little bit slower than a virgin WLS.

There is a ton of information and support to be had on here - if you want it.   Hang out, use the search function to find answers to commonly asked questions, get to know us and you'll be fine!

I will be 9 weeks out Monday and my husband will be a year out in October. The ONLY regret we have is not having done this years ago!

My husband had SEVERE and painful GERD. It was completely gone within 30 days. It might have been gone before that, but he was told to keep on his meds for 30 days and then discontinue. That alone has made it worth it to him!

He went from a 54 pant to a 34 slim and wears a M or L shirt depending on the maker. I went from a 26 or (sometimes) 28 and now wear a 20 for the most part (some brands a 22 on bottom) and LOVE the lifestyle.

You can make it as awesome or as awful as you want--go in excited, keep the energy for success up and you will be THRILLED!!

Look for posts by Martitalinda--she is UBER inspiring! Look for posts from Poet_Kelly and ****rogirl for vitamin and self-care advice.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
