Revision band to RNY scheduled for the 31st -questions!!
I had a lap band done 2 years ago, and it was the WORST decision of my life! Not only have I gained back the 36lbs I lost, but being stuck all the time and the pain has been unreal. I finally got TRICARE to approve the surgery after we scheduled it and they denied it. I fly to Phoenix Sunday, have my 'class' and preop on Tuesday & surgery Wed. @ 11am. I'm pretty nervous, but more excited to be healthy than anything.
I did just have an emergency surgery this past Friday for kidney stones... I had a 9mm stone blocking my ureter.... They are leaving the stint in until the 7th... I've been assured it won't effect the RNY...but still.....
I guess, like all newbies, I have questions, concerns and just plain ole nervous energy.. Other than changing your eating habits, what has been your biggest concern or lifestyle change?
I'm so excited to look in the mirror and finally say "I remember you!" To my reflection!
I would love to have some people to share the journey with as we'll as advice from the pros!
I had the lapband 2007, had it removed and went to bypass 2012. Best decision I ever made! Your diet protocol will be up to your surgeon. The good thing about being a revisionist, you are already used to having a small pouch. The bad thing about being a revisionist, that no one told me until after my surgery, is that we tend to lose a little slower. But I'm VERY happy with my loss. thus far. Best wishes to you!!
when i had my revision and i woke up i felt 100% better. had surgery at 9 am on Friday and was home by 1 or 2 on Saturday.
i followed my doctors guidelines and actually started walking a couple of days later because i felt so good. 2nd week i was dying because i had done so much first week.
I can tell you this. please, please follow your dr's guidelines. You are going to lose the most during the first 6 months so really don't push the dietary guidelines and eat exactly like you are supposed to. I think as a revision patient i knew i could eat some things and i wasnt scared to eat. i measured everything. i really tried to eat the exact amount i was told.
