I posted a few days ago about heartburn. It happened again today and has been going on for over an hour.  I'm beginning to think its something more than just heartburn. I have been on my protonix since Thursday and all Ive eaten today is eggs for breakfast and 1/4 cup of plain Greek yogurt. Probably 30 minutes after eating the yogurt I started with a little 'heartburn' under my breast pretty much. Well when I say it quickly started getting worse I am not kidding. It was a severe "heartburn" feeling, like the worst I've ever felt before (and I've had heartburn plennnnty of times before surgery. My back started aching and the heartburn feeling seemed to just wrap around the top part of my abdomen. I took 3 doses of gaviscon liquid since this onset started and had some tums. Nothing helped. I even started dry heaving at one point thinking I would throw up but nothing came up. I've been sitting up in my bed just trying to focus on breathing and making it go away and it's finally subsided a little. This has got to be more than just heartburn. I have a high pain tolerance and this puts me in tears!!

Do you have a gall bladder? This sounds EXACTLY like me when I was having attacks. It's a gut wrenching pain that you can feel in your back and breathing like in lamaz kinda helped but I've had the attacks for hours before getting it removed. That's all I can think of. If you had it removed with surgery then I'm puzzled. I'm sorry.

I still have my gallbladder and I haven't even thought about that. I mean it was so bad. I was sweating just sitting on side of my bed crying. I was thinking ulcer? But I'll have to do some research on the gallbladder too.. I am calling my doctor tomorrow. I would call on call dr but they aren't in bariatrics and usually don't give much help.

My husband had pancreatitis and was having the same type of pain you are. I took him to the ER. He had to stay on antibiotics for three days, then they removed his gallbladder. If you can, get to the ER. Pancreatitis is dangerous and could be life threatening.

I haven't had surgery yet, so not much help in that area...but my general rule of thumb, if you're hurting to the point of tears like that AND it hasn't gone away for a few days, go to the ER or at least get in with your doc. I really hope you find some relief. Severe heartburn is the pits.

As I was reading your post all I could think was Gallbladder. Before they took mine out I would eat something and soon after thinking I was going to die. I hurt so bad that I would start shaking from the pain. I would get it checked out. When they did the ultrasound on mine they said it needed to come out ASAP. It can be deadly if it ruptures. Please get it checked out.

Are you taking Ursodiol to prevent gallbladder problems? It sounds like an attack to me as well...
