Is is just me, or is everyone eating larger than normal quantities of food? I know all Drs are different, but my DR only allows 1/4 cup or 2oz of food at a meal. Not to mention liquid diet for 3-4 weeks post op,then 3 weeks mushy foods... It looks like I'm on a more restrictive diet.. Which
is fine, I just was a bit taken a back

Everyone is different. I started out on liquids but it was only for 1 week post op then 1 week pureed then 1 week soft then after that I could do regular foods. I also started out at 1/4 cup of food but my NUT explained to me that NO ONE can live off of that small amount of food for a long period of time. I eventually worked my way up to 3/4 cup to 1 cup of food at meals. I'm month 5 now and that's the portion sizes that I'm on. All surgeons are different. There are even some people on here that never had to do liquids at all and started on soft foods a few days after surgery. It doesn't mean that one way is right and all others are wrong. U just have to follow your surgeons plan.

Every dr is different. I was on clear liquids for 10 days, the full liquids for 4 weeks, then purée for 3 weeks. Just started started solids today and I'm already 8 weeks out. I questioned my nut when I read on here that many others were on solids at 3 weeks but that's just their protocol.

That is interesting. The standard where I'm having surgery is to be on liquid for one-two weeks, pureed/soft/mechanical food to about 3 months post-op, then move onto regular food.

I'm sure it depends on the doctor, and each person/how they are healing.

Two ounces of food at one time for how long?  That is a very standard amount for people who are early out, but most people eat about a cup of food by a year out.

The post-op diet instructions for the first month or so can vary WIDELY depending on surgeon.  Some surgeons (like mine) have their patients eating soft food just a few days after surgery.  (For me it was clear liquids for one day, full liquids the second day, and soft foods the third day as long as you did ok with full liquids the previous day.  I ate a couple of bites of scrambled egg before I left the hospital. (I had open surgery so was in the hospital for 4 days.))

I'm eating 2oz every few hours ( if I remember )  .  In the pureed stage for 2 months.

I don't really measure my food.  I take a small amount of whatever we are having for dinner.  I eat my protein first, and then a few veggies, once I feel myself getting full I stop.  I don't eat that much at a time, I let my pouch tell me when its time to drop the fork.

I was on liqiuds for 2 weeks. Pureed for 2 weeks. Soft until 3 months out. I don't eat more than 1/3 cup at a time. My weight loss seems slow but maybe that's my expectations running too high. I just focus on following my plan. Crazy how every plan is so different though.

I'm going on five years post op and I eat about a cup of food at a time, which seems like a pretty normal amount for someone more than a year post op.

Your doctor allows 1/4 cup for how long?  Forever?  Or just the first few weeks?
