HELP! Can we burn our pouch?

Strange question, I know.

I have an aching burn in my pouch.... Constant for the last 3 days.

Thought my GERD may have come back but then I remembered that 3 days ago I ate a VERY hot forkful of scrambled egg. I thought it would pass, but it kept burning and I ran for a drink of water to squelch it.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? If yes, any tips?

Thank you!

I think it's just about impossible that you could swallow something hot enough to burn all the way down.

I agree... but it hurts so bad and has ever since the incident.

Maybe I burned my throat.

The burn could be acid or possibly an ulcer are you on a PPI?

All of these things are possible.

I did start back on my Prevacid which I took prior to surgery....

The timing is just so suspicious though!

I'm really starting to think I burned my throat or esophagus.... I will stay on the Prevacid though, just in case.

Huh? Why would you swallow egg that was so hot? I would think that if you had chewed it properly, you would have either realized it was WAY too hot (and spit it out) or would have sufficiently cooled it off in your mouth while chewing. I would be extremely surprised that something that did not burn your mouth and esophagus would burn your pouch. I'm just having trouble understanding the scenario....

Well there is not a lot of chewing involved in a scrambled egg and I had a knee jerk reaction to swallow rather than spit. Hindsight is 20/20 vision.

No, there's not a lot of chewing to scrambled eggs, but some.

I was just surprised that you would swallow something so hot when people's (and even animal's) natural instincts are generally to spit out something distasteful, too hot, too cold, etc. not to swallow it. Keeps us from swallowing things like poison...
