Today is my 2 week post op anniversary. Everything has been going pretty well, except for 2 occasions. Yesterday and today when I took some medication I got really sick to my stomach. My pouch has been cramping and I got chills and diarrhea - both episodes were lasted about a half hour... A half hour of misery! Has anyone ever had this? Both times I took my meds on an empty stomach. I take about 5 different meds (besides vitamins) and some are multiple times a day. Please help.

I did that when I took the liquid lortab about 3 weeks post op. Not any liquid meds bother me. I have also learned to take some meds just before I eat. My thyroid meds I take with water, lots of water. My vitamins I take just before I eat or with my shake.

What are you taking them with? Water? To me it sounds like how I feel if I drink milk.

Thanks for the input.  I was taking them with water (with crystal light).  I am going to try to take them with food and hope that helps.

I would suggest taking your meds one at a time so you can figure out which one is causing pain.  Also, if you take them with food, that might help.

Thanks - I'm going to try taking them with food for a few days.  If I don't have any problems then the issue was taking them on an empty stomach and I won't do that anymore.  If I still have problems I will take your advise and try taking them 1 at a time to see which one is causing me problems.

I have had severe problems with prescription NSAID's turns out we're suppose to stay away from them, I almost had a bleeding ulcer as a result

Another thing that might be an issue; most liquid medications contain high amounts of sugar, if you are taking any liquid medications and not sure about the sugar amounts, talk to your doctor or pharmacist, I had the problem with an anti-nausea medication, it would give me chills send me into a cold sweat with bloating, followed by diarrhea, typical dumping from sugar for me, but it's not fun

I had not thought of that. All my meds are in pill form so luckily I don't have to worry about dumping at least.
