Calcium question

Reading through all the info from my doc's program I came upon the statement that people with any kidney issues should not take calcium citrate.  The NUT had said before that calcium carbonate was not a good source of calcium but given that other statement is that a good substitution?

No.  RNY patients can't absorb calcium carbonate due to the lack of stomach acid.

Why does your doctor say people with kidney issues should not take calcium citrate?  I know that calcium carbonate can cause kidney stones, but calcium citrate does not.  What kidney problems does calcium citrate cause?
