endoscopy
I didn't have one before my surgery, but had one a couple of years after to try to diagnose some mystery pain. It isn't bad AT ALL. You will be "out" enough that you won't remember a thing and most doctors use a numbing spray so you don't even wake up with a sore or scratchy throat. Nothing to fret about.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
I just had an upper endoscopy to try to diagnose abdominal pain. My insurance covered me being completely sedated, so the procedure itself was easy. I'm prone to anxiety attacks, so I nearly had one during the prep, but the anaethesiologist gave me a little something to calm me down.
Go to sleep, wake up, no pain or discomfort for me.
