He basically just paraphrased the book Wheat Belly by Dr. William Davis.   I read Wheat Belly and followed the diet (wheat, gluten, grain, soy, and sugar free) for my med. supervised weight loss program for my insurance company and lost 35 lbs in 12 weeks and got off of two blood pressure medications as well as my thyroid med. My NUT was like wha what? I feel like the change pre-surgery set me up for an easier transition into surgery and life afterward although I'm struggling just a few days out, feeling pain and hunger. I'm hoping it's just my body adjusting and it will get better. I worked really hard to get here.

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see how surgery affects me.  I, too, have lost weight pre-surgery.  I still have a ways to go, but I feel like I've been eating high protein, low sugar, low carbs for so long now that it's become a good habit.  I hope the surgery will just reinforce this.

This is good training for post op.  It follows my pre op diet and I favor it over the protein shake/liquid approach.  You have to start learning the right way to eat before surgery, it's common sense.

Please tell me how to do that because I feel the same.

Can I make a suggestion?   If you hotlink the article so we just have to click on it and post your opinion to start the discussion - many more of us will participate in the thread ...

I have made an exception this time, but personally, I NEVER clink on threads that are not done as above and I suspect a lot of people do the same!   Some of us really do like to be spoonfed kiss

The effects of inflammation are well-documented but the rest of the article is contrary to everything I've read.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16087988

"CONCLUSIONS: The study shows that in the present group of overweight subjects a high consumption of sugar-sweetened foods and drinks increased haptoglobin and transferrin but had, at best, only a limited influence on CRP."

Additionally, I believe the only diet documented to halt or reverse heart disease is a low-fat, whole-food, plat-based diet.  Google the names Esselstyn, Ornish, Campbell, and McDougall.
