Prilosec?

I was told to take Prilosec for 3 months post op. Has anyone else had this? What are your experiences with Prilosec?

I have been on a prescription acid reducer bc I started to have severe heartburn! The drs have no clue why but it sucks!

I was given the prescription when I left the hospital. I was wondering why? Is it normal procedure? Is it preventative?

I'm on 40mg Nexium for 1 month.

Lapband surgery in 2009 - Revision to RNY August 13, 2013 with gallbladder removal.

HW - (260) SW - (197) GW - (135), updated on 1-2-14 to 125lbs HT 5'5" Goal reached 3/2/14-revised goal to 120 on 3/9/14 reached 4/6/14

Yes, preventative. Most everyone in our centres in Ontario are given this.

Starting weight: 334 lbs.Starting opti weight: 323 lbs, Surgery weight 303 lbs.Surgery-May 21st, 2013 with Dr Hagen at HRRH Goal weight 165 lbs reached at 13 months. Current weight 156 lbs

My program prescribes Protonix, but since I was already on omeprazole they said to keep taking it. I had heartburn all my life until I started taking it a couple of years ago.
