First time to a restaurant since surgery

Stick around on these forums for 5 minutes and you will know exactly what I am talking about ...   This is a recurring theme of people getting upset because restaurants won't accept some crappy card a surgeon gives out telling restaurant serving staff that the person holding it is somehow special because they had WLS and that they should therefore qualify for a menu that clearly says it is for children 12 and under ...

I was trying to explain where my frustration came from when I gave you an insight into the sense of entitlement people get when they go to buffets (and there are PLENTY that go after WLS!) that the restaurant should allow them to pay less (the child's amount), or take home their leftovers.

These cards are not worth the paper they are written on in that it is totally within the restaurant's discretion and if you wish to order from a child's menu, then you should just ask politely and not have an expectation that the restaurant should honour your request because you had surgery.   If you are not going to get that concept, you are not going to get it and clearly there are a lot of people who don't ...

I rarely believe that people tip fairly.   If somene is too cheap to order an adult meal and either take the leftovers or (perish the thought) throw them away, experience has taught me that it is unlikey they are leaving the tip they owe their server for their work!  Of course, no one's going to admit they're cheap on tipping here but we all "know" that cheap is cheap - right?   Of course you would never do that, nor would anyone else answering this thread!

It sounds as though you have issues.

Your food sounds WAY off to me. Minuscule protein and a CUP of others foods?  Gee whiz, I am coming up on 4 months and cannot eat a cup of anything yet! Protein should be your primary focus. Are you 100% sure on that menu?

Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

Happy birthday and have a great meal out !  My first meal out was at a  Mexican restaurant.  I showed them a card stating I had bariatric surgery and was allowed to order off the kids menu.  I had a shredded beef enchilada with refried beans and did not even finish.  I made sure to tip appropriately as though I had a $15 dollar meal.  It was great, can't wait to go back !!!

I had a tuna sashimi, avocado and edamame appetizer in a bar yesteday, while watching football ...  it was delicious and I didn't have to share my medical history with anyone!
