NSV, & Stoole Softener Questions (Odd combination I know)

So I literally just had the most painful BM experience ever, and it lasted all day since I couldn't get it all out at once. This has only happened to me this once, but before today my BMs were still painful and infrequent (MAYBE twice a week if that) So should I start taking a stoole softener? I don't want my booty to be in pain the rest of my life lol.

On a lighter note, I went today to find some new clothes, I was really searching for more shorts, but ended up getting a new shirt and a pair of jeans from Old Navy, Shirt was M and Pants were a 12!!! ANNND I got the Rockstar style which usually run really small, so I think i might be a 10 in other stores. WHATS UPPPP.

In other news my husband has been bugging me to make chocolate chip cookies, so I made him some yesterday. I've had a few. But I packed the majority of them up and sent to work with him and gave some to my friend. I love to bake, and now that its going to be fall soon i am really itching to do so. Pumpkin Muffins and spiced nuts and pies...but I know I can't be eating all that. So i made a deal with my buddy that when I decide to bake she will take all my extras. She didn't complain!

That is great on the NSV, shopping has been a boost for me as well!! I needed another pair of pants to exercise in and am comfortably in XL (after being 3x-4x for the last 5 years!). It's such a wonderful feeling, I can't wait to shop for all new clothes next summer!! I can relate to the baking thing. I have a bread machine and make a lot of loaves for my daughter and husband, the smell is SO tempting, but I've thankfully abstained, I think I just really like the process (and watching them eat it, living vicariously through them lol). The holidays should be fun, I'll probably be really annoying making everyone try everything I make since I won't eat it :P. On the infrequent BM note, I definitely would take a stool softener, most post-ops seem to actually (since we're eating so much less and it's protein forward, we probably aren't hitting our fiber requirements at all very easily). When I don't go for more than 2 days lately I've been doing half a dose of Milk of Magnesia (15 mL as opposed to their 30-60 mL recommendation), it works pretty fast for me...

Yes, I would start taking  a stool softener, or something like Miralax.   Miralax is what I use and it works well for many people.  Make sure you're drinking a lot, too.

Giving away baked goods is an excellent plan if you like to bake.  Everyone likes homebaked goodies!

Up until last month I was doing 2 non stimulant stool softeners, just the walmart brand, every night before bed. Also I was adding benafiber to my protein shake in the morning. Now all I am doing is the fiber.

What a fun shopping trip!

I know everyone loves to use Miralax but please be careful the first time. Miralax is the only thing I have found which gives me dumping symptoms (nausea, diarrhea, chills, shaking, etc. ) to the point of passing out for a short time on the toilet. Since i doubted that's what caused it, I tried a half dose a few days later. Yup, that's what did it.

I haven't heard anyone else with this issue, but if you go the Miralax route, try the first dose when you'll be home.

Now I take fiber tablets and stool softeners daily and avoid chewable calcium nd haven't had issues.

I take Colace every day (prescription).

If I miss going one day, I take milk of magnesia, otherwise I am in trouble :(

I have recently increased my fibre & water intake, so I haven't had to use MOM very often now :)

I had a lot of problems the first couple of months after surgery, but, I seem to have it figured out now (I hope!!).

I take Miralax daily, helps keep things soft and moving. It relies on liquids to work, so I do my best to get 128 oz. a day.

AWESOME on the clothing!!!

Have you tried the chick pea and peanut butter cookies?

Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

I take 2 stool softeners everyday.  I had the worst constipation and painful bowel movements for about 6 weeks (I was around 2-3 months out).  It was the worst thing I have ever experienced.  The stool softeners really did the trick.  No point in suffering.  I couldn't stand the Miralax in my drinks.

Buying clothes is the best reward ever for me!  I think I may have a transfer addiction!  I am wearing a size 10 and mostly size small shirts and dresses now (from 20/22).  I love being able to shop in any store!!!  I've gotten dresses this week at Target for under $10.  Buying whatever fit in plus size - only at certain stores was no fun and very expensive!
