hair loss

MOST people experience hair loss after RNY. It is just a question of how much. There really isn't anything you can do about it. It is called telogen effluvium if you want to do an Internet search on it. Getting enough protein and getting all your vitamins in will help keep it from being any worse (because both protein deficiency and certain vitamin deficiencies can cause hair loss) but nothing will lessen or prevent it. biotin is often recommended, but there is no evidence that it does anything other than encourage healthy regrowth.
Keeping it trimmed (so the ends don't look thin or "scraggly") or getting it cut shorter will help it look fuller. Unless you lose a LOT of hair though (and some of us do) many people won't even notice because your face is getting thinner.

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying there.
My hair started falling out like crazy at 4.5 months. It slowed at 7 months - today I am 8 months and I finally feel like I am losing a normal amount of hair. Finally.
I probably lost 1/4 - 1/3 of the thickness. You can't tell unless you look at my hairline; so I just don't put my hair up.
Still a few rough days every now and then, but overall very good. I was 295 the day of surgery and am 249 now. My SIL is almost exactly the same, so it's nice to know it's normal (some people are way ahead of me, but I'm perfectly content with how fast I'm losing)!!! Getting lots of comments over the last week of people noticing the weight loss now. As I said, stressed about the hair loss, but I suppose it comes with the territory! It feels so much thinner to me and I feel like I leave an entire wookie in the shower/sink when I wash/comb my hair. How are things with you?
