Medication problem 3 weeks out

I went to the doc yesterday to find I have a bladder infection. Doc prescribed antibiotics and we went through and found a liquid I can take. Problem is, I'm not a person that tolerates liquid medications (I always throw up because of taste and/or texture)...at all. I haven't thrown it up yet, but it's not sitting pretty. I know we can crush pills or whatever, but it's the same sort of problem....taste will make be sick. Not sure what to do...:( Going to call into surgeons office, but they take forever to call me back, so I thought I'd ask for input.

*edited after* Capsules are okay, right? I seem to recall the surgeon saying that they dissolve so fast that it's okay to take...

I was taking pills right from the start. ;leaving hospital they gave me 2 large pain pills.

Ugh. :( I just talked to a nurse...she said "Yeah, since you're so early out and antibiotic pills are so large, they would really upset your stomach." Can't get much more upset than this. I'm waiting for the head honcho nurse to call me back....

Did you have any problems with the pills?

Pills should be fine. I was taking whole capsules as soon as I passed the swallow test.

They had me on a capsule and a tiny pain pill....everything else is "pencil eraser size or smaller" or chewable.

Yuck. :( I'm not going to lie...today was the first time I asked "what did I get myself into?" Freaking gross. I've managed to keep the stuff down, but I'm sicker than a dog. I'm hoping I can take a capsule or something....

Are you unable to swallow pills? The ASMBS says it's OK to swallow them as soon as you can tolerate doing so. I was able to swallow pills easily just 12 hours after my surgery.

I guess I don't know if I am or not...I had pepcid capsules and small dialuded pills after surgery....those were fine. Still waiting to hear from the head honcho nurse.

The only way to know if you can tolerate swallowing pills, I guess, is to try one and see. But many people are swallowing pills long before three weeks post op. I don't know why you wouldn't be able to tolerate it.

I called my docs office to tell them I needed a capsule or something else...they called back...turns out, the culture came out clean, no infection...medication problem solved! Ugh.
