UTI
Yes I had 1 too after surgery and had only had a uti once before also. I thought it might be because of the catheter.

Yes! Grr. I had never had the opportunity to experience the lovely effects of an UTI...until now. I am not a happy camper.
I had the catheter in for ~18 hours and started having symptoms 2 days later. At first I thought (hoped) it was just irritation from the catheter, but nope, turns out it was a pretty nasty UTI (per my NP). I have a few days left taking Cipro; I hope that does the trick and the UTI doesn't return. Ever.
I can see why you might get the initial UTI from the catheter, but I can only speculate why it would be recurrent- how long were you on antibiotics for the first one? If it was a short course then maybe it didn't fully kill all of the bacteria. The next thought I have is along the lines of how much fluid are you getting in daily and if you may be slightly dehydrated and not urinating as much?!?
Wishing you well and hope you feel better soon.

I didn't have a UTI, but I had a realllly bad yeast infection :( I RARELY get yeast infections (only when I was pregnant). I figured maybe my body was in a bit of a weakened state after surgery ?? Not sure
