Ok I am 11 months post op and usually bread of any kind after two bites makes me sick, but today I was able to eat six inch flat bread steak and cheese from subway. It took me about 10-15 minutes to eat it but I was able to and that's all I had for lunch. So my question is, is it normal or ok to be able to eat six inch flat bread at 11 months out?

At my support group people comment they can eat half of one. I have not heard anyone say they have eaten the whole thing.

I have eaten the 6 inch flat bread before. I am 2.5 yrs out.  The flat bread is much easier for me to eat than the normal bread.  Usually I do turkey toasted so I don't have to add the mayo.  that cuts down on the calories.  This is an occasional treat for those days I have to eat out and am tired of the normal salad or chili.  I am not sure I could have done that at 11 months out.

If you are craving a sandwich you might try the flat out bread.  I think that is the name.  I tear it in half and make a wrap.  It is pretty good.  Not subway good....but that is asking a little much.

Everyone is different but eating a whole six-inch flatbread is certainly within what I consider a normal volume of food at about a year.

Nutritionally it probably wasn't a superior choice but you have to enjoy yourself once in a while.  :)

I agree completely.  I can eat a 6 inch whole wheat toasted....I eat 1/2 of it and then eat the other 1/2 in a hour or two....and a 380 calorie meal seems completely reasonable for a grown man!  The stats aren't that horrible, but if you can get in the habit of ditching the mayo and sauces, that will make it even better.

Remember, you are going to be able to eat more as time goes on....and you will need to!  I eat about 1,800-2,000 calories every single day!

For the sake of accuracy, the standard sandwich is 380 calories.  Adding bacon, mayonnaise, and chipotle southwest sauce brings it up to 650, over half of which is fat.

There is no way I could get it in but that doesn't make it wrong. I wouldn't make it a daily or weekly habit with all the extra sauces etc on it, but we all deserve a treat now and then!
