7th day of CLEAR liquids!

I was concerned because I thought RNY was going to be harder than the band was, and then to add the band removal to that I thought it might be really awful, but honestly it wasn't.  Obviously there was pain, but certainly no worse than the band surgery.  I feel a little more internally, but not too bad.  The main thing I noticed is the incision where my port was seems a little larger than the others and it's very bruised, I guess because they had to take my port out.  The other thing I noticed is when I left the hospital my stomach was HUGE and swollen or filled with gas and felt exactly like a pregnant belly.  That went away in a few days.  I am down 10 pounds since surgery (7 days) so it's all starting to really feel worth it!  Good luck with your surgery and hang in there!

Omg I am on my 4th day of pre-op liquid diet and my husband said to me I've been irratable, no joke. He can look at me cross eyed and I want to cry or scream! My surgery is 11/25, I hope I make it as jail clothes are not for me

I'm thankful I didn't have to do a pre-op liquid diet.  After hearing what some people have to do I'm actually starting to think my Dr's diet might be one of the easier ones!  Good luck with your surgery and hang in there!

I am ready to kill someone.  Seriously.  My doctor has us stay on CLEAR liquids until our post-op class, which is always on the Tuesday following surgery.  Since I had surgery on Monday I have to be on clear liquids for 9 days.  I am so tired of jello, broth and herbal tea.  Please, please, please don't tell me this is head hunger!  I have had virtually no nutrition since Sunday morning and I cannot believe the doctor is making me do this (by the way, she is an excellent doctor with great credentials)  Can I get some sympathy?  Truly, I don't know if I'm going to make it until Tuesday. (At least the class is in the morning!)

Get yourself some Isopure RYD protein. Clear as can be and very filling.

I HEAR YOU!!!!  I am in the same boat-- Day 7 on clear liquids today and I am going crazy too.  Luckily, I am supposed to start puree tomorrow-- but a little apprehensive.  I don't know how my stomach with react.  Do you have a sort of "sour" feeling in your stomach?  I've been feeling it on and off-- I can't figure out if it is just healing, or something else.  It almost feels like a burning--

Are you on a PPI?  If not you may want to discuss this feeling with your surgeon.  Give him/her a call or shoot a text.  The office may want to put you on  Protonix, Prilosec, Nexium (one of these or there are others).

That s crazy. Real food that quick.. WOW. So many different diets. I have 1 week-clear, 1 week full liquids-1 week puréed- 1 week soft and then full. Can't wait for savory food, I'm tired of all this sweet crap.

Yes, I agree that the sweet food gets really tireseome.  Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement and sympathy!

There is Unjury chicken soup and there are peanut butter flavors that are saltier than they are sweet, you might want to try those.

so I've been on my liquid diet since 11/6...surgery is 11/25.  I tell you something the first few days I was so irratable....today 11/14 I am full of energy, I feel good and caught myself running down the escalator at work...when I reached the bottom I asked myself, What the heck?"  I don't know if its the protein drinks, or the Unjury Chicken soup, it is sooooo good!  I am wondering if it all taste good because that's all I am eating.  I should test out biting into a piece of cardboard...now if that taste good then we know the whole story.

Keep it up...you are going to do WELL!!!!
