OFF WORK
Initially I planned to take off one week. I work from home, sitting on my couch on my laptop. But I had complications and ended up being off almost three months.
Please note: I AM NOT A DOCTOR. If you want medical advice, talk to your doctor. Whatever I post, there is probably some surgeon or other health care provider somewhere that disagrees with me. If you want to know what your surgeon thinks, then ask him or her. Check out my blog.
Everyone is different on this. A lot depends on you and how well you recover, so it's hard to predict based on others' experiences. I took 2 weeks off and was fine going back. I don't have a very strenuous job. Is there a way you could go back and not do the stairs for a while? You might not be in pain, but you might be very tired very easily.

I was out one week and my husband took two.

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way. Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!
I also have a desk job but I took 3 weeks off. Even after that, I have missed a lot of time due to not feeling well. I have had a lot of nausea.
I am two weeks out if I had a desk job, I would be back. I am a ER nurse in a busy dept. No lifting for one month, I asked to go back starting with some "short shifts" like 8 hrs. I don't think I could do 12 right away. Eating when I go back will be a challenge. Some days there is hardly time to pee!
