2 years 9 months what a ride....

It has been a few months since i have been on the site. I went to see my WLS doctor last week and i have gained 25lbs from my lowest weight.  My lowest weight loss was 200lbs, I started this journey weighing 430lbs, I now weigh 255lbs. The doctor was still so happy with my numbers 175lbs lost but i don’t feel the same. I feel like if I don'****ch what I am doing i can end up exactly where I started almost 3 years ago. I have taken a break from working out since late October at which time I walked the 3 day  60 mile Susan G Komen walk for the Cure. This was the second year in a row for me and it was yet again a incredible experience. I know that some of the weight is muscle maybe 5 pounds of it lol…. the rest is simply me eating things I should not be and the lack of exercise. I know what I need to do but i needed to vent and be honest with myself and all of you that have been so supportive.

Good for you for recognizing you still have more to do and knowing that you have the power to keep yourself from going back to your starting point.

What is your weight goal? It does not say how tall you are, but I am guessing you are still 80ish pounds from being in the 'normal' category given what I see for most people. If it were me, I would work with my nutritionist to come up with a plan of how I was going to reach a healthy weight and the steps to get there. You CAN do it, you've got this!!

I am a huge fan of the C25K program from ZenLabs, it made a huge difference when I was able to start actually running. ME...running, with no crazed man with a chainsaw coming after me! If you do try it, be sure to go get fitted for your running gait at a store with a certified fit specialist. Makes a tremendous impact on the way it feels when you are on the road. I went from not being able to run 30 seconds without really pushing myself to running a 5K in 38:17 and that was less than 2 months of time.  If you can walk 20 miles a day, a 5K run should be a 'walk in the park' lol.

:)

Please consult your surgeon & nutritionist for how to do it their way.  Biggest regret? Not doing this 10 years ago! Every day is better than the day before...and it was a pretty great day!

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement.  To be honest I really don’t have a weight goal, my goal from the very beginning of this journey has been to feel better, to be able to walk and move around with our having to stop every few steps because I was out of breath. I will tell you that I want to lose the 25lbs I have gained. That would put me at 230lbs. I am 5’7 in height. I know that I should be weighing 145lbs by medical standards but I I have no desire to met that number(as I would have skin wrapped around my ankles) lol. But I will tell you that I feel uncomfortable with the regain physically. Congratulations’ on your achievements that is fantastic  I have done a few 5K but I have power walked them.:)

Marilyn,  I am also 5' 7 1/2 and thought I should get down to 150 but at 165 I am afraid that if I lose any more I will be a true skeleton.  Depending on your bone structure you might want to change your idea of 145 lbs.  Try making short term goals and see what happens.  You have made wonderful progress so keep it up.  175 feels great and 165 feels better.  Please post your progress, we're all pulling for you.

Well venting is what some of us are here for, to listen. I think that being honest with yourself and putting it out there is a huge step. I am new to the surgery. Only 1 week post op. I know this is a life long journey. I have seen people go through this and hit the spots two, three or more years out and start gaining again. It is all about facing up to it, being honest and then take the steps to do something about it. We will continue to be here to listen. I am sure there will be some people who have been in your shoes to help along the way. I can not say I been there yet, but I make one hell of a pompom cheerleader if you need it

Congrats on your awesome journey ... how great that you got a chance to participate in the 60 mile walk for the cure .. what an accomplishment.  My bounce back happened at a little over 2 years out ... my lowest was 110-112 lbs and now I maintain between 123-128 pounds ... I think the body just settles down after the bulk of the loss and then we work at keeping it where we want to be... Best wishes on your continued journey!!!
