Pain in Gallbladder area with no Gallbladder ?

I get random sharp pains (not even every day), and I'm not really sure what causes it. Today I yelled something, and I got a stabbing pain right in the area where I used to have gallbladder pain (right beneath my ribcage). Other times I get the pain for no real reason. But my gallbladder was removed like 3 months ago.  Has this happened to anyone else ???

Not to sound sarcastic, but there ARE other organs in there...

The pancreas can sometimes act up (although it is usually not as sporadic as what you describe), you can get spasms in your diaphragm, and adhesions from the gallbladder removal (and any other surgeries in that area) can sometimes cause occasional pain if something causes a pulling of the scar tissue.  People have also mentioned having a start gallstone get caught in the pancreatic duct (but that would also be less intermittent, I would think).

LoL Thanks ~ I guess I'll just ask the nurse on Friday..... What is a "Start gallstone", or is that a typo ??

That would be autocorrect changing "stray" to "start".  I upgraded the OS on my iPad  (something i regret for many reasons) and the autocorrect is even more annoying than ever!  (I hate it so much that I am looking into how I can get the old version back, even if it means paying someone at the Apple store to do it!)

Maybe I am imagining it...and I do recall thinking it was crazy in either real life or the dream I dreamed this...but I swear someone here shared that after your gallbladder is removed that you can still have gallstones in some other area. I know that sounds insane...and I will try and recall more details.

Hope you feel better!!

Yes, you can have issues in the sphincter of Oddi and you can still have gallstones even after they remove your gallbladder because they leave the common bile duct. I get these same pains and it sucks. They are super painful, but fortunately don't last long. I was told it was because of the scar tissue and that if it was anything else I would have other symptoms. I am certainly at the doctor enough so I'll stick with answer for now *shrugs*
