Chronic Pain?
I am also taking Cymbalta and tramadol instead of the mobic I took prior to my surgery.
I, too, explained the pain as feeling like it was my bones rather than muscles. I was referred to a rhuemotologist who diagnosed it as fibromyalgia...one of those mystery diseases.
He is pleased that I'm losing weight and pushes calcium and vitamin D, both of which I'm taking because of the wls.
Some days my whole body aches and I just hope it gets better as my weight drops......if I can't do much about it, it try to ignore it and get on with life.
good luck with this.
My sister has had fibromyalgia for 15+ years and I know the pain she has to deal with and I'm sorry you are dealing with this too.
It's not really a "mystery illness" anymore. There has been a lot of new information and research findings that have come out in the past year or so, here's an example. They are finding it is a nerve and temperature control issue and REM stage sleep, or lack thereof, has a lot to do with the associated pain.
If you haven't spoken to your rheumatologist in awhile, it might be beneficial to check out the latest research and chat about it with them to find some relief.
I hope you all find some relief.

I too am in constant pain , I have been diagnosed with sever anemia and the rhuematologist attributes the pain to it along with Fibro . I have to see an oncologist for Iron transfusions .. Been pretty sucky . I also have extreme reactive hypoglycemia now have had to switch to a paleo .grain free diet.. I have to take a multivite , D3 , magnesium,a bunch of iron .... I have lost 125 lbs but gained back 20 .. I hope you find a solution .. Best of luck
I have had pain all over for a while now and recently saw a rheumatologist and was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. The pain does not get worse when I've eaten, though.

Looks like a lot of us deal with chronic pain.
My doc has prescribed oxycodone, which is percocet 10 without the tylenol. I thank God for him every time I have to take one.
If what you're doing isn't working, make some noise. Since we can't use NSAIDS we are limited - but that shouldn't mean you have to suffer.
take care.
I have become desperate , and snuck ibuprofen .. my dr was not happy !!! She said if I'm gonna be naughty take a omeprazol to protect my stomach pouch .. Sometimes you just get desperate and I don't wanna go the pain clinic route yet BTW IM NOT ADVOCATING IT , Its just what I got desperate enough to do ... I also have a TENS unit , CHiro , Rhuemo, Oncologist ( new to me ) and I feel like im trapped by the pain some days . I have small children so i cant take the strong stuff or ill be knocked out ... Plus I homeschool LOL so we would never get anything done if I did ..LOL..... Im really hoping that the Transfusion of Iron will help he pain ... Being anemic will elevate your SED rate ...which means more pain ... Make sure you have your Iron watched careful Im glad to know Im not alone ... Its hard to explain to people you arnt being lazy you just HURT all the time !!!
In your case - I would consider having having food allergy tested. Also going on a very strict elimination diet for 2-3 weeks and start adding food may make your pain worse.
Food allergy - may cause inflammation in the body in general. Reducing the inflammation is a key. Over last 3 years I had to remove more and more foods from my diet. But just recently after breaking up with severe hives and itching I drag my butt to an allergist. I was inform that I have severe allergy to soy, allergy to dairy (the proteins - whey and casein). It did not show gluten allergy - but I know I am in pain if I eat food with gluten. My belly swells and I may be hurting for 2-5 days... (cramps and pain). There are more foods that affect my level of comfort. Over the years I know what food to avoid or limit. Sometimes the extra gas and pressure in our guts, combined with possible adhesions - may radiate to the back.
I know that with my GB issue - my back hurt me as if I had kidney stones or something wrong in my back. I had back pain when my Peterson hernia opened and my intestines were twisted and pushing into the back space...

Thank you all for your comments. My GP doesn't think I have fibromyalgia b/c I don't have pain in the specific trigger points common with fibromyalgia. I wanted to ask for a referral but didn't know who to ask for and she never suggested seeing a rheumatologist. I'm going to call for a referral Monday. Can't hurt. Thanx IrrepressibleSLP for the link to the article. Its interesting. I had severe anemia a year B4 my rny. Still get B12 shots monthly and take iron frequently. I also take D3 but am lax about taking calcium and a mutivitamin. I hate to think food allergies have anythin to do with this but am open to suggestions which is why I've written to this forum. I hope others will still respond with their experiences. Thanx again and best wishes, Barbara
