Am I losing enough?

Hi All,

I am 9 days post op and have lost 6 lbs. Seems like it should be more to me. Was on liquids until post-op check up and advanced to pureed food. Doing fine with that. Supplementing with once protein shake a day and starting to do some walking. Drinking water as advised. Do you think I should be losing more?

I think it is too early to tell.  only 9 days post op your body is still healing and recovering.  Give it time and the weight will shed!

Your doing fine, you need to intake more protein. The weight will come off. Keep in mind the important thing here is to become healthy.

Yes, the important thing is to get healthy. Easy to lose site of that. Will work on more protein.

Congrats on your surgery and your 6 lb loss.

I know it's hard to not focus on the weight loss, but during your recovery the first month or so try to focus on healing, resting, getting in your protein/fluids/vitamins, and moving, the weight loss will fall into place, I promise.

If it makes you feel any better I weighed two pounds more 9-10 days after surgery than I did on the morning of surgery due to all of the fluids I received in the hospital. Was I discouraged? Sure, but I'm in this for life and it is coming off and I'm doing well. Hang in there, follow your plan, maybe stay off the scale for awhile and you'll be pleased with the results.

Best wishes!

I also weighed more at the end of my first week. It doesn't seem fair, but it is what it is.

Follow your plan, and you will do great.

I so appreciate your input. I really don't know many people who have had the surgery so this board is invaluable to me as I am sure it is to so many people. Thank you so much.

You really need more protein. I am 5 ft 4 and my doc said a minimum of 55 gr a day. At your stage I was drinking 3 shakes.
