What Happened Last Night??

WOW - wondering just what I experienced last night. I had been going all day, tired and feeling like I needed to eat. I ate a little salmon and steamed broccoli. All ok. Then I had a snack attack. Ate 1 Quest Protein Bar, Double Choc Chunk so had more sugar alcohols, which does make me somewhat queasy. But then I went and ate 4c of Skinny Pop popcorn, and sprayed I Can't Believe It's Not Butter (supposed to be zero cal butter spray) over the top of it. (For some reason, I basically went into binge mode). Ate all of this, and about 1 hour later, I thought I was dying. My heart was beating out of my chest, I was very nauseas but did everything not to think about throwing up, and I did have a BM, but not diarrhea. I was extremely shaky and had to go lay down. I ended up falling asleep and not waking up for 5 hours. When I woke up I felt like I had been run over by a truck - just completely wiped out. Does anyone know what I experienced?? Whatever it was, I will never eat that combo again. Still feeling a little weak this morning.

sounds like what i experience when i have a "carb coma". doesn't sound like you had any refined carbs, so maybe your body just reacted negatively to the popcorn? or perhaps you waited too long to eat and experienced low blood sugar as a result? i'm not sure, others will chime in with some help. hope you're feeling better.

Thanks Christina - I tried to research and did read about 'carb coma' and thought maybe that's what I was experiencing. I could barely read cuz my eyes were so distorted. I just need to lay down and pray it would be over. Whatever happened, I will never do it again.

Thats's RH, you blood sugar went up and then went down fast.  It's less then fun.  I can eat a bagel and get this same reaction, hence the reason I avoid eating during the day and start with dinner.  No need to feel like crap all day long.

Thx, Heidi - I sure did feel like crap. Won't be doing that again. I don't even know why my mind went there - just went into old habit mode - and I can't even think of anything that really set me off emotionally to start on this downward spiral. Chalk it up to learning how to live with RNY.

Thanks, Tanya. It doesn't feel good, but sometimes our past demons raise their ugly heads. Mine did last night. What I love about this surgery is that it gave me consequences and taught me a lesson.
