Am I dumping?
1 week post op. Every time I drink a protein shake I get quesy, I get the sweats, my tummy gets the gurgles and I eventually get diarrhea a time or two. As someone who has never dumped, is that what I'm experiencing? Have any of you? What can I do to get my protein?
Well, I can handle other dairy fine. Yogurt never posed a problem for me. Is it because it's possibly in a higher concentration?
Sounds like lactose intolerance.

I can handle other dairy products well though. Yogurt went through my system fine and cheese was fine when I started pureed foods. Is it possibly because the shakes are at a high concentration level?
Some dairy products contain more lactose than others, yes.

Some people that are lactose intolerant can still eat cultured dairy like yogurt and cheese ok. There are a lot of variations. The bottom line is to figure out what bothers you and stay away from it.

When I mentioned my new intolerance to milk, I neglected to say that I have no problems with yogurt or any cheese.
If you're still feeling unwell, it's worth a try to change out your shake liquid to see if it helps make you feel better.
Ive even started using half Lactaid and half water because I seem to like the shakes a thinner consistency.
No, it isn't dumping but you might be reacting to the sugar alcohols if the shake is sweetened with them rather than Splenda or something.
Try another type of protein shake (especially one that has no lactose, just in case it IS lactose intolerance) and that has a different type of sweetener in it.
