Postoperative weight loss
I am four days postoperative. I know everyone is different but how soon after surgery should you begin to lose weight? I gained weight and I can only think it is from the IV fluids and gas they pumped me with. Curiousity is getting to the cat! Lol!
Thank you for setting my mind at ease! I was beginning to wonder if I was doing something wrong. I am glad to know that others have swelling for the same amount of time.

My WLS program emphasized that we should stay off the scale until our two week follow-up. Your body has been through a shock and you are healing. You were also pumped full of fluids. Keep sipping and walking and try to stay off the scale. You will lose!
Do yourself a favor a back away from the scale. You know what happened to the cat, right? Heh.
If it makes you feel any better, 9-10 days AFTER surgery I was still weighing MORE than the day of surgery...I think by four pounds or so (I'd have to go look, I can't recall exactly right now). I was from all of the IV fluid and my body loves to hold on to any fluids...lucky me. I did end up losing 34 lbs the first month, so it all worked out.
Be patient and just follow your plan. It will start showing a loss soon enough. Besides, you'll have plenty of time when you get to be over 6 months out to start obsessing about how slow the scale is moving. ;)
Congrats on your surgery. Good luck.
