Physical Hunger Vs. Emotional Hunger
Physical Hunger: Comes on gradually and can be postponed.
Emotional Hunger: Comes on suddenly and feels urgent.
Physical Hunger: Can be satisfied with any type of food.
Emotional Hunger: Causes specific food cravings (pizza, chocolate, ice cream, etc...)
Physical Hunger: Once you are full you can stop eating.
Emotional Hunger: Eat more than you normally would. Feel uncomfortably full.
Physical Hunger: Causes satisfaction, doesn’t cause guilt.
Emotional Hunger: Leaves you feeling guilty and cross with yourself.
This is so valuable - thank you so much for posting.

Yeah, my daughter, who hasn't had WLS is always complaining that she is starving yet when I make a suggestion of something we have in the house she can eat she refuses because she doesn't feel like it or it won't satisfy her or be enough. Pretty sure her hunger is emotional since she really doesn't allow herself to go without food very long.

My mother told this to my siblings and me our whole childhood....if you are hungry but nothing sounds good, you're not really hungry; you're bored. Go out and play!!
The wisdom of mothers... I have passed on this knowledge to my own kids.
