TMI- but how often did you throw up post op?

I am 4 weeks post op today, and my diet consists of Greek yogurt, cheese, and soups.  I feel like I throw up almost everyday.  It is getting super frustrating.  Either from eating too much too quickly, or trying something new, or combining some things that my pouch just doesn't like.

I dont feel like it's a stricture, because the food goes down and sometimes sits for a boy, but my pouch just never seems to settle.  Today I had Greek light n fit strawberry yogurt, which I had never tried before and got sick.  Then for lunch I had a cheese stick, but had some gum after I ate, and the juice from the gum made me throw up.  I keep coffee down just fine ( I am allowed one cup a day).  So technically because I threw both those up all I've had is a coffee today.  I can do the syntax nectar but can't do the protein shakes.

On the plus side, I am 4 weeks out today, I started at 348 lbs, and am 50 lbs down and out of the threes!

Hmmm, I am not sure what others will say, but I am almost 8 months post-op and probably throw up once a week.  It is occasionally that the chicken is too dry, but more often, it is "OMG it's 12:45 I haven't had lunch and I am in meetings for 3 solid hours starting at 1" and I eat too fast.  Eating too fast doesn't feel good and nor is it mindful eating so I know it's something I need to work on.  Perhaps you can find one of those apps that people use to time their bites and practice eating a bite every 30 seconds or something until you just naturally slow down.  I can't imagine it's super healthy to throw up every day and I am sure you don't like it...so perhaps work on the timing first.

Re: food that doesn't agree with you, over time you will figure that out.  By now I have tried every possible protein that i eat so I know what my pouch likes or doesn't like.  My trick has been to have a protein shake for breakfast because my pouch can be picky in the morning.  I have not tested my pouch with sweets yet so I have no idea how I would react.

Good luck getting this under control.  Perhaps others will have more or better advice for you.  It is something you do want to get under control because throwing up is not good for your esophagus or teeth.

And congrats on being in the 2s!

I am 6 months out and only twice.  Once during the puree stage, I ate grits too fast and it hurt and I vomited off the front porch.  Then later when I was in regular food, I ate some chicken too fast and threw up.

Generally, I have learned the feelings and if I start feeling like I am going to hurl, I quit eating.

I threw up vitamins a bit... and had to make myself throw up a few times when something got stuck or I ate too fast.  It gets better eventually... but talk to your doc just in case.

I didn't throw up that much. I tried chicken too soon and that didn't stay down. But honestly, I don't think I threw up more than 3-4 times during the first 4 months.

Are you sure the dairy is not giving you some issues?

The dairy seems to be the only thing my stomach can really tolerate...

I still throw up a couple of times a week.  I have a picky pouch and it's not because I eat too fast or too much.   Dry food, buffets, leftovers, dense meat - one day they'll go down fine and the next

I'm sure this would have some complaining, but vomiting now is not like vomiting before surgery and it's over and done with once the offending article is gone!

Thanks Kim, it doesn't hurt to throw up and I always feel better afterwards.  I think I have a picky stomach too, I threw up every day for nine months with my daughter, you learn to live with it, but it's not fun!

I am right there with you!  One of my meals each day will make me so uncomfortable that I have to throw up.

I get the Foamies and just can't take it anymore.  I go all liquids for the next day.  But it is getting annoying!

I eat slow, I am on puréed foods and chew everything a lot!

I have tried papaya enzymes, peppermint tea, everything I can think of.

The doctor says relax and we can always scope.  But liquids go down just fine after the full/uncomfortable feeling is gone.

Hope it gets better for you and me!
