Am I lactose interant?
I am 5 years out from my RNY. I usually have cereal at night for a snack. I had been having 2% milk, but I got moderate pain after the cereal/milk, so I switched to 1% to see if it would help. The pain wasn't as bad, but still there. I have no problem with other dairy. Could this be lactose intolerance?

I swear I posted a reply but I have no idea where it went, lol. It might be the lactose...but it might be the combination of the liquid and the solid? Because we aren't supposed to drink 3o minutes after eating. Except cereal has the milk mixed in. I throw up every single time I try to eat cereal.
Could be. Milk has more lactose than some other dairy products, like cheese. Try using Lactaid brand milk, or soy or almond milk and see if that helps. Or try raw milk - pasteurizing milk destroys the enzyme lactase in it, which is needed to help digest lactose, so many people that are lactose intolerant can tolerate raw milk just fine.
