Is Post Op WL on track?

I am 1.5 weeks out and have lost 7.5 lbs. I was wondering if this is normal. I remember on the show My 600 lb. Life, that dr. Always said he expected 30 lb. loss monthly. Granted my surgery weight was 285 and not 600 but I feel like still being on full liquids I should lose more now than when I progress to food. At this rate it doesn't seem like it will come off too quickly.  As someone who has been overweight since 6 months old and is now 45 I guess when I don't see the Rapid Loss we have been told about I begin questioning if some people can just Never be thin...

Anyone with encouragement / insight or a similar beginning weight loss story who would like to share I would love to hear it.

You are right in thinking that if you weighed 600 pounds you would lose faster. The heavier you are the more calories in general it takes foir your body to work. My surgeon says that 3 to 5 pounds per week is a normal weight loss for someone our size. I started at 265 and by 3 months had lost 52 pounds. I lost 145 pounds by about nine months post op. I followed my doctors directions, measured my food, and exercised nearly every day. I was obese my whole life and at 5'6.5'' now weigh 120. I've been this weight now for a year. Its about making wise choices, being patient and being consistent even when results don't happen as fast as you would like.

At one week out, I weighed the same I did as when I went into the hospital. At 10 days, I had lost 6 pounds but after that it just dropped off. I'm now 3 weeks out and am down 19 pounds. My surgery weight was 248 and I'm 61. Just give it some time. Your body is still holding on to fluids from surgery.

Best wishes!

We all lose weight at a different rate. I lost 50 lbs before surgery, and at almost three months, have only lost an additional 18 lbs. The surgeon thinks I'm right on track and not to worry. So ... I'm trying not to worry. The weight will come off eventually, since I'm eating less than 700 calories most days. Good luck to you!

I am 7 weeks out and I too thought I wasn't losing fast enough. Slow and steady wins the race, right?  After one week, I went on a 3 1/2 week plateau. I thought I was going to lose my mind. I lost 25 pounds pre-op and now 28lbs post-op. Now it's pretty slow and steady. I am 300+ pounds.... My doctor keeps saying "I am not worried, you will lose the weight" It is hard not to compare yourself to others (I am speaking to myself here too) Stick with what you are supposed to do, it will happen. Good Luck!
