RNY Surgery Oct 7
Hi
I'm having surgery RNY on Oct 6th. Feeling the same, nervous and anxious. I am also tired of the liquid diet so I am ready to go, 3 weeks is enough to last a lifetime.
The only tips I've gotten are off of OH. Bring a pillow for the ride home to put between you and the seat belt, it also helps when you have to cough. People also mentioned chap stick, chargers for phones/tablets. I can't think of anymore. Walk, walk, walk, sip, sip, sip water.
Best of luck and good wishes your wayand I'll see you at the loser's bench we don't have long to wait now.
My best advice is to bring a sleep/sound machine or fan for noise if you want to get any sleep! I ended up being in the hospital for 4 nights and it was the best thing I packed!!! Good luck to you both

Much appreciated Bubbles314 and iloveravens, I've got a pretty good list going now.
You are having your surgery on my one year surgiversary! Follow your surgeon's instructions and take things slow. You will feel very tired for a while, so don't expect to start running sprints 2 days out of the hospital. Don't test your new pouch, don't check to see if you dump. You will likely hit a stall 2 to 3 weeks out from surgery. Don't panic. :D
Good luck to you!

It is also a good idea to have the foods you need when you come home from the hospital...herbal teas, crystal light, clear broths...whatever is recommended by your surgeon. I also had a scale and a measuring cup and spoons to measure portions and a couple of bottles with measures on them to put liquids in so that I could measure how much I was drinking...I still use these things 5 months out.
A good book, magazines, music....you may get bored as well!
Good luck
Here is my list so far,
loose fitting / comfortable PJ's clothes
Fan – white noise for sleeping / keep cool
Pillow – to block seatbelt on route home
Chapstick
Phone /tablet /chargers
Book/ magazines
Kleenex
Hand sanitizer
Time is passing so quickly, and I know I'm going to forget something
Thanks everyone for the friendly advice.
