Hi, Just wondering if everyone gets sick and throws up for the first year after surgery?  I was told if I have RMY this is what to expect the first year!  From someone who knows someon who knows someone who had surgery

The brother's girlfriend's hairdresser's mother-in-law?  A reputable source, for sure.  haha  I've been nauseous exactly once (ate too fast early on) and have not thrown up at all since surgery on 7/17.

Nausea was an issue for me in the very beginning.  Since then I have slowly improved and rarely get nausea. As for vomiting, I did 3 times total.  The first two because I ate to fast or too much.  I was still learning, I still am but know more now.  The third because the item I ate didn't agree with me.  It was just a little nothing serious.  Still I think as we learn our new bodies we start to figure out what our triggers are and what we can do to help avoid the issue.

I have not experienced any nausea/vomiting at all and I am 2 months out. Aside from my recovery room experience (didn't handle anesthesia very well).

For the whole first year?  No, of course not everyone throws up for a year!  There may be someone in the whole history of WLS that did, but that would be extremely, extremely unusual.  I did have a lot of nausea for the first three months, but that is pretty unusual.

I'm four years out and have vomited 3 times.  All of them were my own fault for eating too fast.  I think I vomited one time in the first year.

I am 10 weeks out and had some nausea the first week, and did vomit a few times around 4 weeks out as I switched to chopped food from soft. It was a learning curve and what I learned was I vomit/get sick because: I ate too fast, I didn't chew enough, or the food was too dry. In my comtrol and hasn't happened since. I know everybody feels the need to tell you about someone or introduce you to them.... Talk to people directly instead of 'a friend of a friend of a friend'... Good Luck
