Teeth ruined?
I went to my dentist yesterday and asked him if he treated many WLS patients. He said yes and that their teeth in the back are completely destroyed because of all the vomiting. Can anyone enlighten me with this. My mind says that if you vomit you will brush your teeth after so where does the ruining of teeth occur?
My paperwork went in yesterday for insurance approval so I'm at the waiting period right now.
thanks
Vomiting is not a normal occurrence after WLS. Does it happen to some people? Sure, but I think the vast majority of us don't experience any more vomiting than someone who hasn't had surgery.
My dentist is actually thrilled with my mouth since surgery. Not drinking high sugar pop anymore has made a huge improvement in my gum health.

I have only threw up once. And it was because I ate too fast.So it was my fault. I think there a lot of people who make themselves throw up if they ate something they shouldn't.I worked with a teacher and when we would do breakfast at school all of a sudden she would run to the bathroom saying she had to get rid of this. I think she went from one eating disorder to another.
That is absolute dreck. Find another dentist. He is misinformed in the extreme.
Sustained vomiting could damage your teeth. The stomach acid is erosive. I have only vomited about three times.
I fight badgers with spoons.
