Biotin
There is nothing you can do really to prevent the hair loss, just live through it. Get a cute short cut and before you know you will stop shedding. I am 9 months out and haven't lost any more hair for the last two months. Really happened to me between 3-6 months. My hairdresser said products to stop the hair from falling out, it is the result of the quick weight loss. Just eat your protein and drink plenty of water. She told me to only wash my hair every 2-3 days.

I thought that I was super clever because I started taking biotin months before my surgery. Additionally, I was like a machine after surgery: I got my protein in within a week, took all my supplements + biotin and was pretty confident that I had beaten the hairless monster. In fact, my long, silky, and thick hair had never looked better than the first couple of month's after surgery!
Imagine my surprise at 3 months 4 days when I suddenly looked like I was making angora sweaters in my bathtub drain. At first my husband tried to reassure me that I was overreacting. After a couple of weeks my husband started to remark that he couldn't believe I still had any hair left I was losing so much.
Note to self: I hadn't found the hair loss prevention secret.
I am 10.5 months out. Thank god it slowed at 6 months and stopped by 8 months. I now have lots of hair growing back in.

I have been taking it, I'm only 6 weeks post op so no more than usual hairloss. I like how strong and healthy my nails look.
I didn't take Biotin because I didn't want to risk having more facial hair than I already had. ha. I scalp hair started thinning at 3 months--right on target. I didn't cut my hair, instead, ordered a ponytail extension off the internet in hopes it gave the appearance I had thick hair. (My DD was unimpressed with my efforts but I had fun with it) Good news, the thinning stops after a couple of months of mild panic.
