I currently have a band and considering a bypass. My surgion wanted to schedule me to remove my band. However,  when I asked him about the likelihood I would be approved for a revision, he stated that I have no medical issues so I could be denied. He did mention my bmi is high. I don't want to remove by band if it's possible I won't be approved for a bypass.  My band was placed in 2009. I lost 90 and gained it all back. I couldn't eat and had all my fluid removed. All testing shows that nothing is wrong with my band.  Was anyone approved without any other medical issues other than a high bmi?

Call your insurance company and ask what are the requirements to have gastric bypass covered.

If you are morbidly obese you probably have co-morbidities such as:

Incontinent

Aching joints (knees, ankles, hips)

High blood pressure

High blood glucose or Diabetes II or pre-diabetes

High levels of LDL in blood

I'm sure there are observable problems in your physical condition.

Do you happen to have Gerd? That was my main issue when I got my revision from sleeve to rny approved.

Prior to me having all the fluid removed from my band I experienced heard burn. It has since been resolved. I also had difficulty with food getting stuck and vomiting.  Honestly I'm scared to have fluid put back in my band. It almost felt like the doctor wanted me to continue to work with my band and not get the bypass.

Well you need to go for whatever you feel is right for you. Maybe you need to get a second opinion and have an endoscopy done and then go from there.

I had an endoscopy and everything looked normal either than a bit of inflammation and I was given medication for that.

That's hard then. Maybe your bmi will be enough then. There has to be a way to get approved. But I worry this surgeon won't work hard to find it if he's not really for it.
