hot chocolate fail

I've read in this forum before that some of you drink sugar free hot chocolate with unflavored protein powder mixed in.  I tried it this morning and it was an epic fail.  The powder didn't mix well (used half a scoop) and it tasted terrible.  Was it possibly the brand?  I have GNC unflavored protein powder.  Is the Unjury brand much better?  I choked it down, lumps and all, but yuck!

I use a scoop of Lean Dessert chocolate powder.  I mix it with about three ounces of cold water until very smooth then slowly mix in the ho****er.  If I were using unflavored I would use Beneprotein from Walgreens.  But the trick is not putting ho****er on the dry protein powder.  It must be mixed first with cold water or it will turn into lumps.

Yea, it did not mix well at all. Ok thanks so much, I'll give it another go tomorrow.

Nik at Bariatric Foodie has a whole step by step on it, whi*****ludes mixing the protein powder with a cool liquid first.  http://bariatricfoodie.blogspot.com/2011/12/bf-basics-how-to-make-hot-protein-drink.html

next time you are buying unflavored try buying Genepro, I buy it on Amazon. It is the only one I know of that can me mixed directly in hot liquids. It also doesn't have to be 'just warm'. 1 Tbsp= 30g protein. Great stuff.

I usually use skimmed milk powder instead of protein powder which I hate.  Adds 5 gr protein to about 1 tbl and is 50 calories per tbl...makes it taste richer and deserty ..I add the skimmed milk powder to a little cold  milk or water and then add the ho****er or hot milk depending on how much protein or cals I need.

very cosy on a cold evening!

Be aware milk has more sugar than proteins. 12 gr sugar to 8 gr proteins.  So adding powdered milk may cause dumping.   1/2 scoop of good protein powder will get you 12-15 gr of proteins with 1-2 gr of carbs.
