I haven't had my surgery yet but I have also been researching for protein alternatives. Something to think about is adding cricket flour to recipes as a major protein source.

Yeah, cricket...as bug. America is the only society that does not use insects as a food source. Which is a shame. If you can get past the fact that you are eating bugs you will have an opportunity to supplement your diet with major protein. It doesn't take much cricket flour to reach the required amount of protein. Just a thought.

I use Isopure unflavored myself. I am 16 weeks out. Hopefully it is good...Interested to see what some of the vets think on this one myself!!

Do you mean the unflavored powder from Isopure? Whey protein is an excellent choice. The protein to avoid is collagen based.  Those are made from boiling bones and skins from the animals. But whey, whey protein isolate, pea powder protein and the egg based ones like Jay Robb are all good choices.

Just as a personal thing for something to be a legitmate protein source for me I like 1 gram of protein for every 10 calories. Using that rule keeps you away from a lot of the protein bars that aren't the best choices.

Isopure is a good source. And it's bug-free.

I iike genepro unflavored, I buy it on Amazon. I like it because it can be put directly in hot and cold liquids. It also is only 1 tbsp for 30g of protein. makes it very easy to mix into things.
