Had My First Follow-up appt. Today - Day 8 since surgery.
Eveything is going well according to surgeon. Healing is good and he is very pleased with my recuperation. As many here have noted many surgeons call for different things diet, medication, etc. My surgeon had me on clear liquids since surgery and said to maintain this until Saturday - 2 more days. At that point (10 days after surgery I can eat solid food- yes Solid! I asked him about this and he said that in his experience he strongly feels that eating pureed foods can cause strictures, and feels that finely chewed food is a better option. I also was given my return to work date for Dec. 22, but with a no lifting over 10 lb. restriction. I am down 48 lbs. from my high weight since starting with my surgeon, 40 lost prior to surgery and 8 lbs in the last 8 days since surgery. The weather here in NE Pa. is miserable but it's starting to appear much sunnier in my eyes. Wishing you all much comfort & happiness on your individual journeys.
Sounds like a great report. While I did do soft foods like cottage cheese and yogurt, I never pureed my meats, - as you said finely chopped. and make sure it's moist. Dry food can make things get stuck which is not pleasant. Good Luck!
