Can't believe I'm already one month post-op.

Time flies when you are having fun.  Early this week was my one month post op mark.  I'm happy to report that things are going well.  Getting all my water in is a slight struggle but I manage.  Getting all my protein has been pretty easy because nothing has went in my mouth that isn't protein. I expect this to become a bit more challenging as I'm allowed to start trying some vegetables now.

I even survived a holiday party full of treats that I would have stuffed myself to the gills in the past.  I have a couple more in the next two days that I'm confident I will successfully navigate.

I hope all of you are doing fantastic and that you have a Merry Christmas!

Congrats to you!  I'm 8 days out...and can't wait to get to puréed protein (sigh...I never thought I'd say those words...puréed protein...ick..).  What are you eating?

Congrats on eight days! I'm sure you are really looking forward to some food even if it is pureed.

I got really lucky with my doctors eating plan.  The first two weeks were protein drinks for three meals a day with up to one tablespoon of Greek yogurt or cottage cheese for a snack if needed.  At the two week point I was allowed to begin eating what my new normal would be.  I did not have to puree anything.  They said to just be careful that my teeth do the pureeing for me.  They recommended moist protein first and if I had room I could try overcooked veggies so that they would be mushy. They suggested I avoid raw veggies including lettuce and especially celery.  From day 15-29 I didn't put anything in my mouth that wasn't protein.  In the last few days I have begun experimenting with vegetables. I've tried fairly crisp green beans and they were fine.  I've also tried well cooked broccoli and cauliflower and both of those were fine also.

At one month out I am drinking one 30 gram protein shake first thing in the morning (6AM).  Breakfast around 8AM usually consists as leftover protein from the the night before. Lunch is often the same thing or cheese wrapped in lunch meat.  Most afternoons I need a small snack like a string cheese.  Dinner is more protein and now some veggies if I have room.

My go too foods have been:

Turkey meat loaf, string cheese, lunch meat, chilli, cottage cheese, P3 Protein packs, and roasted chicken.

The only things I've tried that did not sit well are tuna and salmon.  I'm really bummed because both of those are really healthy and I love them.  I will continue trying them periodically in hopes I can tolerate them at some point.

I wish you the best in your journey!

Oh you ARE lucky!  My plan will not allow me to have Greek yogurt during the puréed stage, as it's too thick. Sigh...Bummer about the fish...I love tuna and salmon.

I just noticed you revised from the band.  Were you immediately relieved to have that thing out? I know I was!

Yes! After 6 years....it's almost weird not to feel like I'm choking when I drink water!

Does the Holiday Season feel more spiritual than past ones?  (having hope along with immense gratitude is quite the duo)  Merry Christmas to you, too.

I wish I felt more spiritual.  Christmas this year just feels odd to me.  I think the biggest reason is because I didn't take any time off around the holiday. I love Christmas, it is my favorite holiday but usually I have some time off work prior to the big day.  This year, because I had taken two week off in November for this surgery, I haven't taken any time off to enjoy the build up to Christmas.  That in combination with adjusting to my new lifestyle I'm actually kind of bummed that I haven't found more excitement this Christmas. I am really looking forward to the joy in my five year old daughters eyes Christmas morning though.
