yummy bedtime snack

Just thought I'd share for those looking for tasty snack options.

Tonight I had about a cup of canned peaches (I canned these myself during the summer, no sugar added, organic, local), mixed with a little lite Coolwhip, some sliced almonds and a spoonful of chia seeds.  It's low in sugar, the almonds and chia seeds give it some protein, and very yummy.

Thanks for sharing! That sounds yummy and like something that I would actually enjoy and consider a "treat"!

I frequently do fruit and lite Cool Whip as a dessert (usually berries), but adding almonds to the peaches sounds wonderful!  I especially like warmed peaches, so warm peaches with lightly toasted almond slivers sounds really appealing, especially during the winter.  Thanks for the idea!

I will pass on the chia seeds, though...

I like adding a little texture and crunch to it.

I do too but I'm not quite cleared for nuts yet. So I'm waiting or I could crush them up really well!

I had my RNY on 11/4/14 and was wondering when  can we start eating nuts? I read about so many people have them for snacks and sounds so good.

Ask your surgeon, or read through your plan... it should be covered in it.  Each plan is different and it will depend on the food stage your are on.  It does take a while to get to nuts, or foods with strong fibers like raw fruit or asparagus.  You need to make sure your pouch is fully healed because you don't want the fibers or rough edges causing problems.

Great idea!  A few nuts add the crunch and savory.
