So I'm on the pill, 6 days RNY post op, 2 weeks away from my cycle and since surgery when I wipe it's pinkish, but today actually a little closer to red, pretty light but there, but not enough to wear a pad or anything. Is this a hormonal thing due to the surgery? I've NEVER had any breakthrough bleeding or been early or late. I didn't miss any pills.  Has anyone else experienced this?

plan a secondary form of B/C..  absorption of all meds are different post RNY and contact your surgeon and OB/GYN.

Congrats on your surgery~~ you are on your way to better health!

my husband has had a vasectomy 8 yrs ago, so no worries on getting pregnant, I was only on the pill for heavy periods.

Estrogen is probably already being released from your fat cells - hang on tight because this may be an exciting hormonal rollercoaster ride

My cycle was a week late after my surgery... And the 2 cycles since then have been very different.  I assume it is caused by the change in hormones and hope it goes back to normal in a few months.

I am 3 weeks post RNY. Two days after surgery I had a period, lasted a week. 5 days ago it started again and is super heavy. I also am on the pill. They told me its from the hormone surge your body gets and that it will eventually even out. Stock up on tampons is my best advise!! Oh and btw... sucks to not have ibuprofen for the cramps isn't it.

So glad you posted!  Im not in the pill but I'm 8 days out, and was supposed to get my period day of surgery (I'm like clockwork)...ended up getting it 2 days after surgery too.  Super light...but I still have it! (I usually only go 3 days).  I wonder how long this will last?!?!

Banded 12/18/08.  Band removed and revision to RNY on 12/15/14.

it is normal. My period was on Day 2 during my post-op visit 12/12 and my surgeon said not to be surprised if it came again 2 weeks later.

Is your medical team aware that you are back on oral contraceptives? I had a big scare a few weeks out from surgery because the pill I was on was linked to a higher risk of blood clots, plus being fresh from surgery, we're more likely for blood clots just from that. I ended up in emergency having a ton of testing done as they were worried I had formed a blood clot in my lung.

That aside, your hormones are going to do bat-poop crazy things for the next 4 months. There will be no normal for a bit.
