Vitamin D3
Curious at to how much Vitamin D3 people take?
I am currently taking 10,000 IU daily.......(70,000) Level is 86.6
I know the amounts we take are different, I am just asking out of curiousity.
My friend was taking two 50,000 IU a week and her D3 was in the 200`s.
Thank You

Asking people how much they take is like asking how long is a piece of string - it really is a personal thing - I, for example take 50kiu per week to maintain a more than sufficient level of 70-80 ng/ml? So, what units of measurement are you using?
We are no different to the rest of the population - OTHER THAN our levels may drop quicker because of our malabsorption. We have no NEED to have higher levels.
The current definitions of levels of vitamin D are:
-
Deficient: Less than or equal to 10 ng/ml (25 nmol/L)
-
Insufficient: Between 10 ng/ml and 20 ng/ml (25 to 50 nmol/L)
-
Sufficient: More than 20 ng/ml (50 nmol/L)
Clearly your friend has entered toxic territory - vitamin D is not a water soluble vitamin and so the excess is not excreted. An excess of vitamin D can have very real health consequences and will give you symptoms very similar to a deficit.

50,000 IU twice a week. I was taking it three times a week but cut back when my vitamin D level got to 180.
