2 Days post op and having some trouble with air bubbles.

Hi, just had my Roux en y surgery on 12/31/14 and came home yesterday. I don't have any problems drinking my fluids, but I am having problems within a few minutes afterwards where I either need to burp or I have a few hiccups. Also, when I came home from the hospital yesterday, I had a gassy bubble rolling around in me but I couldn't seem to release it. When I sit up, it gets up behind my breastbone and makes it hard to take a deep breath so if I lie down, it will shift and roll around. Sometimes it makes my back ache for a minute or it will shift and I can feel it in my lower abdomen. I can't find a comfortable position for any decent length of time and it's becoming very frustrating. I did try a gas x and so far it hasn't helped. Silly as this may sound, does anyone have any tips on how to pass this gas or dissipate it?

Here's what worked for me.  While sitting on the toilet, I'd raise my arms straight up and keep my body straight.  Sometimes I'd move my torso from side to side gently, sort of like stretching after exercising.  It worked well for releasing gas.  I hope this helps!

Take baby sips and walk the gas out of your body.Walking really helps.

This gas bubble is probably in your abdominal cavity and not your digestive tract so Gax X, burping or farting will NOT get rid of it.

Walking will help it to dissipate - even if it feels uncomfortable - you should be walking around your house on a regular basis now, and maybe even venturing up the garden path by now and this will help enormously!

My surgeon told me those types of gas bubbles have to be absorbed and the only way is with movement.  He told me to wiggle around even if I was lying down or sitting in a chair.  And of course, walk, walk, walk.  It semed to work. Gas pains were gone by day 3. I wiggled and walked a lot!

Thanks everyone for the advice. Walking WAS the key! By last night I was feeling sooo much better and now this morning I was able to pass gas. Liquids are going down fine and i've lost a couple pounds since surgery so I guess i'm right on track!
