3 days post-op
Well, I've made it to the loser's bench, everyone!
I had my surgery at 11:30am Tuesday morning, and my surgeon stated it went "perfectly". My incisions aren't bruising, oozing, or bleeding...or anything of that nature.
My surgeon was fantastic, and the entire nursing staff at the hospital was just amazing. HIGHLY recommend St. Vincent's Bariatric in Carmel, Indiana. Without a doubt.
My pain level is down considerably from day 1, and keeps getting better each day. Right now, the pain I have is from standing up, sitting down, and coughing....to be expected since I just had major abdominal surgery!
I'm still on pureed foods, however I haven't had any troubles with any foods, except for the very first thing I ate post-op...sugar free jello. Made me a tad nauseous, but plan to try it again. Yesterday, I was able to get in 48 oz. of water, and I'm at 42 oz. for the day today, with a goal of over 50. I'm able to keep pills down (bonus!)
I walk walk walked all around the Bariatric wing, and made it over 2 miles during my stay....no way no how these blood clots are going to get me!
I know that everyone is different, and every body is different, but how many days post-op until your pain really went away?
I took one pain pill after I left the Hospital. Sounds like you are doing great. Welcome to the Losers bench!

The pain level at home stayed under 5 using the 1-10 scale even without using much pain medication the first week. What stayed around quite a while was fatigue--taking two long naps a day for the first couple of weeks. You win the prize for the most walking--2 miles! I can envision you by summer jogging!
