Going back to work

So, I work an office job...not strenuous at all. I do paperwork, data entry, and answer phones. Light filing.

My doctor filled out my FMLA paperwork for me to have 4 weeks of work off. However, I'm 2.5 weeks post op, and I'm ready to go back! My follow-up appointment with my surgeon and dietician isn't until February 4th, with my return to work date being February 5th.

My surgeon is 2.5 hours away....has anyone ever gotten approval to go back to work over the phone, instead of actually seeing your surgeon?

I would just call them and ask.  I worked from home 1 week post op part time (I was still tired but doing great), and at 2 weeks I was back in the office on my normal schedule. I had my first post op appointment at 1 week, and they told me I could go back whenever I felt I was ready.  Maybe they'll let you move up your appointment.  It doesn't hurt to ask.
