Dreaming about foods and drinks

I'm not a stranger to deprivation.  Had a hard time when I was younger and dreams like this came up.  However, it was not self induced and voluntary.

I am dreaming about food, and alcohol.  Dreams about finding loaves of bread, but I can't use them because they are molding.  Dreams about going to a friends birthday party with the greatest food spread I have ever seen, but an earthquake makes us all scatter and the bldg falls down.  Having friends come over and pouring them all wine, then going to pour my glass and the bottle is empty.  Or actually getting to drink and becoming horribly sick.

I get that I miss things.  Like I said, I have done this before.  I just wanted to share my frustration.  In the past if the lack of items was diet related I would fall off the wagon and have them.  If it was money related or situational I would hold out and enjoy when I was able, nothing was restricted.  Now I wake up from my dreams and I have a weird combination of accomplishment, regret, sadness, pride...Its off.  I just woke up from a nap about bread and I could literally smell it and taste it.  That sweet flavor of soft white bread.  The alcohol dreams made me wonder if I had a problem.  My husband said I definitely do not have a drinking problem, its just something I definitely feel deprived of because its on the list of things I have told myself I can't have for a while.  Without telling myself I can't have it, I have gone stretches of well over a year without alcohol.

What are you dreaming about?  Or am I weird on this?  LOL  I am sure this is common.

I have dreams where I find out that my go-to healthy foods are bad for me and I can't have them anymore. Most recently it was "NO CHEESE FOR YOU". Very scary!

I also have dreams (nightmares) where I lose weight but still look the same in the mirror. The scale says 200lb but I still look like I do today.

If I could not have cheese it would be bad.

Not that I am a psychologist..but I dont think your dreams are telling you that you are missing these foods. I think your dreams are telling you that these foods are unavailable to you or are for other people.

If anything, I see it as your subconscience finally accepting and "getting with the program"

I like that answer!  Repeating that can help me with my frustrations.

I have food dreams as well. You are not alone, I recently had a dream where I was at a party and they had a huge spread of food and there was literally nothing I could eat that was good for me. I remember waking up feeling left out and isolated. I'm sure these things will pass. For me, it shows me that I do have an unhealthy relationship with food. How much I leaned on it when I was sad or stressed out. Food was a comforting friend that never said NO and would always be there for me. :) Now...I will just be addicted to video games. LOL.

That is how I felt when I woke up.  Isolated.  And almost shunned from others at times.

I've had 2 separate but similar dreams about finding a way to get a hot cup of coffee. It's the only thing I miss, at this point...but BOY do I miss it!

I've heard from others that they can't have coffee.  My doctor allows it, thank god, cause I think I would lose my mind if I was not allowed.

She wants me off for 6 months! I don't think I'll make it that long, but I do want to stay off while I am so desperate to stay hydrated.
