I am 20 months out and I haven't lost any weight in a long time like 7 months.  I'm trying hard and it makes me want to give up.  My surgeon is no help basically says be happy with this.  I am 5 2 and 162lbs that still fat!  Any advice on how to move this scale?

What does a typical day of eating look like for you? Are you weighing/measuring/tracking every bite?

I'm at around 1000 calories 79 carb 80 to 100 protein and yes I always weigh or measure.   I've tried going as low as 800 calories and as high as 1400 with no change.  Maybe gain and loose the same 1 pound at best.

I wouldn't lose on that many carbs. I need mine to be 30 or less and 600-700 calories to lose.

What exactly are you eating? How much liquid? No loss in 7 months means you are eating a maintenance amount.

Sadly some people maintain on 1000 calories a day. Have you had your RMR checked? My surgeon has one of those machines you breathe into to measure it. How much exercise are you doing? Are you getting enough water?

I think you need to try lowering your calories back down to 800-900 and lower your carbs for a month and see how you do. Get in at least 10,000 steps a day and drink plenty of water.

According to your ticker, you have lost 78% of your excess weight, which is considered a success by most surgeons.

What is rmr?  Yes my surgeon is happy with my weight loss.  I'll try to lower the carbs and see what happens.  My Dr recommended 1400 calories a day which I thought seemed like a lot but now I'm not sure what to do.  Just getting ideas and support helps

Resting Metabolic Rate Test (RMR) The Resting Metabolic Rate test (RMR) determines the amount of energy (calories) your body is using at rest. This measurement is made by analyzing the amount of oxygen your body uses and the amount of carbon dioxide your body produces.

THIS is the type of test my surgeon uses.

I found a place near me that does this test and will be calling tomorrow to get pricing, since their website doesn't have it listed.  I feel that is a bad omen that it will be expensive.  They do health coaching, which I'm not interested in, so I am hoping to just tell them I just want the testing and nothing else.  I dread the sales pitch, lol.

I read some research that people lose on 600-800 cal.day and maintain at 1200.  When I told this to my NUIT at y surgeon's office (who is good), she blurted out "If that much."  So, that 1400 cal/day sounds high to me.

Before I had WLS, I did a supervised diet for a year and lost 120 pounds (then gained 110 back before I had WLS).  But while I was on the conventional diet, I tracked everything - eating and exercsing.  When I was doing an hours on the elipical - SWEATING up a storm - 4 days a week and one day of weight lifting - 1350 cal was my Maintenance target at 165 pounds.  That number does not change with WLS - but I could not keep up that level of exercise and my weight is 133-145, so that lowers my cal/day target to 1000-1100 (impossible ,for me, to stay on without WLS).  Anyway, I put all this out there to help you figure out a rational cal.day target for yourself.

Also, when I got to 165 after WLS, (this was my dream weight - the lowest I weighed in High School over 40 years ago).  I paused there for a month, but I felt my body wanted to be lower, so I just went back on the post-surgery diet and lost another 20 pounds over 3 months.  I was glad because that last 20 pounds that made my knees feel better.

275-110=165 EBW    165 * .7=115 pounds - aver pounds someone with your starting wt/ht will lose with WLS.  (275-115=160 pounds goal weight.  That is why your dr is saying be happy.

If you want to lose that last 30 pounds - and your genetics are not supporting it, you will have to work harder.

Weight training was my secret weapon in losing that last 20-30.  Are you doing weight trainning??? When you lose weight - about 20-30% of what you lose is muscle mass and must be replace to keep losing.  I work with a trainer (Super Slow program - 30 min once a week).  You do not 'bulk up', but get long, lean muscles.  You work on Nautilus machines - so injury rick is minimized.  You can use any weight training program, but I suggest to start with a trainer and tell them you want to replace lost muscle mass.  (No 3 pound weights)
