Dizziness After Walking in Cold

Hello everyone.

I am having dizziness after I come in from walking in cold weather, even if it's just for 10 minutes.  It's around -30Celcius here.  Sometimes the dizzy spells last 30 minutes.  Sometimes they come and go for 2 hours.

I had Roux-en-Y in March and have since lost 84lbs.  This is my first winter since surgery.  I went from 337 to 253.  My last blood test was in July and turned up normal.  I have another test schedule for next week.  I have been under a great deal of stress over the last two weeks.

Has anyone ever had this?  I am making an appointment with my doctor to get checked out, since this isn't normal for me.  I was just wondering if anyone here had any insight.

Edit: I just wanted to provided an update.  I was dehydrated.  I went through a stressful period at work and was not drinking enough water (no time to even hold a bottle to my lips).  It took awhile for my body to catch up and rehydrate.  Now no more dizziness!  Yay!

I was also diagnosed with fibromyalgia last week.  Reading online, it seems a common thing for people with fibro to get dehydrated more easily.  I just have to really prioritize my water.

Thanks you very much to everyone *****sponded to help.

First thing first...

Are you getting in all of your fluids?

Are you getting in enough protein?

Are you taking all of your vitamins?

Even people who haven't had WLS could experience these issues if they're not getting the right nutrients and staying hydrated.

I would most definitely start on trying to get in at least 64 oz of fluids a day.  You need this to keep you hydrated, and the most common cause of dizziness is dehydration.

Work on the protein, too.  Before you have to go out, grab a little snack.  You need to walk, but your body also needs some form of energy to burn to help burn the fat.

I hope you get to feeling better soon.

And, do, please, call your doctor for an appointment.  There may be some other things that are causing this, but I would work on these until you can get in to see your doc.

I have the same issue - was bad this week.  I'm also under when it comes to protein and fluids.  I have been trying very hard the last 2 days to bring everything up.  Not fun.

Cold dry air (which it is at that temp) will suck even more moisture out of you.  It will make getting your water in even more important!

Try herbal tea or put some diet cranberry drink in... you can even warm it up.  I have also had sugar free jello warmed up.  May sound terrible but it sure warms you up, and you get some more liquid in.

Also, sf jello counts as liquid.
