What a long Thursday, headed out at 8:30 am to St Louis, arrived home at 7:30 pm. Had some fog and mist and then rain making for some very cautious driving, watching out for everyone else.

I am so excited, here is what I found out... at this time the following are the things left to do before I can see the surgeon.
1. Blood work
2. EKG
3. Online video training re: weight loss surgery
4. Appointment with Nutritionist
5. Appointment with Psychiatrist on Behavior
6. Appointment with Physical Therapist on exercise
7. Attend a Support Group meeting with patients that have had the surgery already (has to be in St. Louis group)

I can get the blood work and EKG where I live through my Primary Care Physician. I am going to try to schedule the appts with the Nutritionist, Psychiatrist, Physical Therapist and attend the support group meeting on a Monday/Tuesday which will require a 2 night stay in St. Louis. Complete the online video training and then contact them to schedule an appointment with the Surgeon. If the surgeon has no additional tests to be run and approves for surgery then it will be submitted to Medicaid for their approval which could take 2 - 6 weeks.

In the meantime, they suggested that I try to lose an additional 35 pounds prior to surgery if at all possible. The 2 weeks prior to surgery will not be a liquid diet but a 1400 calorie restricted diet. The hospital stay will be for 2 to 3 nights and they suggested I stay in St Louis in a hotel after release from the hospital until my 7 to 10 day follow up visit just in case there are any complications.

It is started to feel like this is really going to finally happen!!

Congrats on beginning the journey!   The time will pass faster than you think, but be prepared to feel like everything is happening in slow motion while you wait for appointments.
