Just where is it going?

One of the greatest mysteries of weight loss for me is the phenomenon when the scale isn't moving much but you are getting smaller. Where is it going?  What is my body doing?  Why is this a thing?

I am not unhappy lol, just vaguely puzzled by this occurrence.

This post is brought to you by jeans that fit so much better this morning despite the scale being about the same as it was when I wore them last week.  (and they have been washed at put through the dryer-so no stretching)

I'm not sure if I can explain this correctly, or if even what I've heard is true, but here's my attempt at trying...

A fat cell hates to shrink, so as we burn that fat away, the cell remains (and always will be there), but as it starts to shrink, it get nervous about being smaller, so it absorbs water to replace the lost fat... but the water weighs more (?) than the fat, so the cell is smaller... but the weight is the same... Finally the cell gets tired of lugging around tha****er and lets it go...

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

And I'll swear to it, LOL.  I had never heard that but it makes sense.

I swear it sounded a lot more scientific when I heard about it...

Anyway, the story works for me and my fat cells

Hello

I wonder the same thing...

I think that the fat cells just shrink.

Let's just hope that they never come back!

from what I understand, fat cells do shrink but never go away.   That's one reason I'm considering plastic surgery even though I'm in my late 50s and it's really easy for me to hide my loose skin (it's pretty much all in my mid-section, so a slightly oversized, long-ish top easily covers it....).  I'm just a little concerned if all those fat cells are still there, they could start screaming again....

Hello!

I am really concerned about my "loaf top".

Too long & right across to call a "muffin top".

I imagine if I was in my 20s, the skin would just shrink back.

I am 52! After C/S & TAH, both lower abdominal surgeries.  I have an over hang. All the WL in the world will not make it go away.

I am hoping I can find a plastic surgeon that will do the abdominalplasty covered by OHIP.

I imagine the only thing that would eliminate the fat cells??? Well.... liposuction & that would be big $$$$.

One step at a time...

Take care

oh yes - I'm sure liposuction would get rid of them as well...
