VSG to RYN due to acid problems

I had vertical sleeve in may 2013. I've been on prilosec ever since. In the past year I've had multiple problems with acid and throwing up, often times until there is blood in it. I've had many tests done, no cancer, no tears, I'm getting a referral for a GI doc on Friday. What I want to know is do you have to wait the six months of weigh in's to be approved for revision if this is the case? I was weighed yesterday so if I have to wait the six months there are five more weigh in's I need before being approved but I wanted to know if anyone was approved for different reasons and quicker due to something like this? This has gotten bad. I now take 80 mg of Prilosec a day and tums to help with the acid but that doesn't even work. I'm sick no matter what I eat or drink. Everything makes me sick. NO drinks or food help. Everything makes it worse. I'm getting scared. I've never felt like this. The past week was so bad that I couldn't eat more than english muffins and half the time I threw those up too. I became dehydrated because drinks were making me sick too. I'm managing food and drink the past two days but I feel nausea every time i eat or drink and heart burn no matter what I do. Please tell me someone else has experienced this before and knows what to do.

Every insurance policy will have different requirements. But if you surgeon is clear that this is a surgery for complications, not weight loss, the requirements should be different.

Unfortunately, the number of these revisions from VSG to RNY are becoming more frequent as time goes by.

I responded to a post there but they aren't as active as here so I posted here. I called my surgeon and am waiting for the PA to call me back. I hope I hear from her today.

This is the reason I chose RNY to start with.  I heard too too many people were having to be revised due to GERD.  I hope this all works out for you...and soon.  I know GERD and acid issues are a terrible thing to deal with.

With this being a complication, your requirements should be different, but it does all depend on how the surgeon and their office puts the paperwork together.  

I would also call your insurance to see if they have any special clauses or requirements for revisions due to complications.

Thank you, I've put in a call to my surgeon and am waiting for a call back from the PA. I hope they have some answers. I'm kind of scared of having the surgery that I will lose too much with this surgery. I only have between 65-70 lbs to lose. 

Your surgeon is able to be conservative on the actual bypass.  The average is 100cm, but he can certainly do 75cm or even 50cm.  Share your concerns with him and be collaborative on both your expectations

Revisions don't often lose as much as a first time surgery.

And the number of people who lose too much with any surgery are about as common as Powerball winners. Worry about losing enough, not too much.
